Mark Borman: Farmers And Farmworkers Working Together Beat A Global Pandemic

Farmers committed to protecting farmworkers

The farmworkers of the Salinas Valley in California –the Salad Bowl of the world– worked throughout the pandemic to keep the food supply practically unaffected across America.

Mark Borman, President of Salinas Operations at Taylor Farms California explains how the Grower-Shipper Association of Central California brought the agricultural industry together to provide the COVID-19 vaccine to the essential farmworkers.

GSA’s joint project with Clinica de Salud del Valle de Salinas is a true inspiration and a model to be replicated not only in America but in the world. It shows just how great things can be accomplished when a community unites with a shared purpose. This is a story of employers protecting their employees.

Thousands of farmworkers and their families have benefited from this program. With an objective of 90,000 people vaccinatedmore than 40,000 are now protected. Volunteers, farmers, and medical personnel took their weekends off to make sure their workers remained healthy.
