Dr. Carissa Purnell, Director at the Alisal Family Resource Center, believes these voluntary vaccination clinics for farmworkers and their families play a crucial role in their children’s wellbeing and mental health.
Dr. Purnell’s perspective on the positive impact of the vaccination program in the farmworker community is unique. When she volunteers at the clinics, she sees that the children of the essential farmworkers are doing better. They told Dr. Purnell that they feel safer going back to school because they see their parents getting the COVID vaccine.
The Salinas Valley community came together to support the essential farmworker during this pandemic by providing education and guidance at their voluntary vaccine clinic by the Grower-Shipper Association of Central California and Clinica de Salud del Valle de Salinas.
